  NDNU Hires New Lacrosse Coach
The Notre Dame de Namur University athletic department has announced the hiring of Joe Kerwin as the head lacrosse coach.

Kerwin comes to NDNU after coaching at the University of Oregon for the past five seasons.  Kerwin started at Oregon as an assistant coach for three years before taking over head coaching duties in 2006.  He led the Ducks to a 35-8 record the past two seasons and an appearance in the 2007 Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association Championship Game.  Kerwin was also named MCLA and PNCLL Coach of the Year in 2007.

As a player, Kerwin played for four seasons at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island.

“I am excited about the opportunity to coach at NDNU and look forward to building on the team’s success this season.” Kerwin said.  The Argos finished last season with an 11-3 record and will begin their 2008 season in February.

  SBCC Lacrosse Teams Starting
  Sep. 19, 2007
Santa Barbara, CA
- Men's and women's lacrosse teams are starting at Santa Barbara City College. The two programs are believed to be the first community college lacrosse programs west of the Mississippi.

Bobby Ward is the primary contact for both the men's and women's team startup efforts and is the liaison with the SBCC Athletic Director. Contact him by e-mail for more information.

The men's team and the women's team will be club for 2007-08. Both teams are exploring options for league membership in the second divisions of the WCLL (men) and WWLL (women). The men's team has another option and may choose to join an inaugural community college league being put together by Southern California lacrosse guru Mitch Fenton.
