2010 US Lacrosse Northern CA Chapter Girls All American and Academic All American
Jul 1

San Francisco, CA – June 24, 2010 - Twelve Bay Area girls' high school lacrosse players have been named to the US Lacrosse All-America Team (Eight First Team and Four Honorable Mention honorees). Players who met the national criteria for consideration were nominated by their coaches and were evaluated by a committee of Northern California lacrosse coaches and league representatives.

Additionally, nineteen Northern CA girls' high school players who met a different set of criteria were nominated by their coaches for outstanding play on the field as well as excellence in the classroom, and have received US Lacrosse Academic All American honors.

A US Lacrosse All-American is a player who exhibits superior skills and techniques as well as possesses exceptional game sense and knowledge of the game of lacrosse. A US Lacrosse All-American is considered one of the best players in the United States, while she also embodies excellent sportsmanship.
A US LacrosseAcademic All-American is a player who exhibits exemplary lacrosse skills and excellent sportsmanship on the field while also representing high standards of academic achievement in the classroom. Additionally, a US Lacrosse Academic All-American has left her mark by making significant contributions of service to the school or community.

Congratulations to all 2010 honorees. We are increasingly pleased and proud to have excellent players representing west coast lacrosse in our Northern CA Chapter of US Lacrosse. We wish them the very best, especially our seniors - many of whom will play DI (at Cal, Georgetown, Oregon, Navy and Stanford for example!).
Know that it is a difficult process to determine who receives the honors, and there are many criteria to be met for a player to be nominated initially. The nomination process is strictly confidential, and the committee meeting is as well. Each and every one of the young women listed below are phenomenal lacrosse athletes with outstanding HS careers (ended or in-progress) and they should be congratulated and celebrated for this ultimate achievement in our game.

Thank you to every head coach who pre-nominated and completed final nomination paperwork for an outstanding group of candidates. Your dedication to the nomination process is critical for the girls' recognition. Know that the bar is set very high by last year's players and this year's as well. Thank you to each an every coach in our chapter who registers/renews with US Lacrosse every year to help us honor our players in Nor Cal.

April 22 WWLL Champ Santa Clara a Clear No. 1
For nearly the entire US Lacrosse Women's Division Intercollegiate Associates (WDIA) season, the talk has been about parity.

Anyone in the top-10 can beat anyone on any given day. It’s a standard cliché coaches like to spew to make sure their players don’t take anyone lightly.

WDIA coaches around the nation were adamant that it was true this year.

But then No. 1 ranked Santa Clara had to smash that conventional wisdom to pieces this weekend during the WWLL tournament at UCLA.
